The Sussex Spaniel Club of America is dedicated to:

Encouraging and promoting quality in the breeding of pure-bred Sussex Spaniels and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection.

Encouraging the organization of independent local Sussex Spaniel Specialty Clubs in those locations where there are sufficient fanciers of the breed to meet the requirements of the AKC.

Urging members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the AKC as the only standard of excellence by which Sussex Spaniels should be judged.

Protecting and advancing the standard of the breed and encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, field events, and tracking tests.

Conducting sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience trials, field work and tracking tests under the rules of the AKC.

Club History.  Founded in 1981 by a handful of Sussex Spaniel enthusiasts, the club has grown over the last two decades to some 140 members strong. From those first post-revival Sussex, the breed has grown in numbers in America helping to ensure it’s survival.  Since 1997, 754 Sussex have been registered with the American Kennel Club, an average of 75 per year (1997-2006).  We encourage all companion owners to register their Sussex with the AKC to help us document the history of our wonderful breed.
